The Oberpollinger in Munich is among Germany’s best-known department stores. Since 2016, the luxury retail store, which belongs to the KaDeWe Group, has been undergoing extensive remodeling and transformation according to a masterplan by architect John Pawson. The designs for the interior originate from various architects and designers. In addition to John Pawson, the offices of Gonzalez Haase, Andrea Tognon and Vincent van Duysen were also involved. The lighting design office Licht Kunst Licht was on board from the very beginning and planned the lighting for the various departments as well as assisting in the realization. One of the major challenges was to meet the various requirements while creating a lighting concept that was both holistic and tailored to the respective interior design.
