The Museum at Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte in Regensburg

On June 4, 2019, the Museum of Bavarian History (Museum der Bayerischen Geschichte) opened in Regensburg. The sculptural new building, designed by the architecture firm wörner traxler richter from Frankfurt am Main, enriches the Bavarian museum landscape with a modern museum, which tells this history of Bavaria’s rise to a high-tech state in 25-year chronological stages. The Berlin based office hg merz was responsible for designing the permanent exhibition on the upper floor in cooperation with the media designers of jangled nerves from Stuttgart. With 1,000 exhibits covering over 2,500 sqm – which are showcased in a variety of vitrines and “cultural showcases”, as well as some 30 pedestals with exhibited objects – the Bavarian history is spectacularly presented with a variety of multimedia elements. For the exhibition area, our team has implemented lighting systems that are equally functional as they are scenograhic.
