In connection with the new construction of the downtown shopping mall "Höfe am Brühl" the city of Leipzig intended to redevelop the immediately adjacent Richard Wagner Square including the flanking streets and open spaces. Particularly Richard Wagner Square serves a number of various requirements regarding use, design and significance of a city plaza - both during the day, in the evening and at night.

Consequently, a lighting concept for the adjacent streets, the square surface and the private facades of the Höfe am Brühl has been developed. The different requirements on the illumination of the various square areas are thus to contribute to an individual, bespoke lighting atmosphere that matches the urban context of Leipzig and its landmarked promenade greens.
